A Colourful End
By Nissa Harlow

I gunned the motorcycle’s engine, fishtailing on the rain-soaked asphalt.
“Faster!” Iris screamed into my ear.
“It won’t go faster!” I shouted back. She throttled my shoulders, then punched me in the ribs.
“If I can’t catch the end of the rainb—” She broke off with a gag. I turned my head to see what colour would come up this time. Blue again.
“What makes you think the end of the rainbow will cure your chromoheaves?”
“It’s in the name. End of the rainbow, end of the illness.” She hurled a splattering stream of sunshine yellow down my left sleeve.
