The Perfect Slice
By Katherine Garrison

As a general rule, I believe
there is no such thing as too much
cheese. Though, one time I ordered
a pizza with extra, and I swear
it was enough to make even
a rat sneeze. A greasy blanket
over top of pepperoni pillows.
Piquant, cured meat that meets
in harmony with briny olive,
and fresh green pepper,
or if you’re feeling spicier—
jalapeños. A pizza induced food coma
to follow. The stuffed crust slice
dreams are made of.
Katherine Garrison writes short fiction and poetry from the borders of speculative and literary. Her work has appeared or is forthcoming in foofaraw, Elegant Literature, Star*Line, Baubles from Bones, and Variety Pack.
