Unidentified Flying Vegetable
By Nathaniel Mumau

The rockets were orange, with frayed green fins. They landed nose down, half buried. The townsfolk approached cautiously, for they rarely had visitors — much less aliens.
Little Susie was bravest. She marched up to a porthole and peered inside. “They’re animals! Hello?”
At Susie’s greeting, out they hopped. The passengers had long ears, cotton ball tails ...
Susie squealed. “They look like bunnies!” The townsfolk concurred, despite the horns and tentacles. Susie crouched before their leader. “Do you come in peace?”
The alien’s nose twitched. “We came in carrots,” he growled. “Not peas.” All the townsfolk giggled … until the vaporizations began.

Fabulous! Malicious alien bunnies!
This is so absurdly fantastic and then the last line hits. Ha! My eyebrows shot up.
